Many women are measured against standards that were never designed for living bodies.
Be consistent.
Be productive.
Be emotionally steady.
Show up the same way every day.
Perform at the same level regardless of season, stress, hormones, grief, joy, sleep, love, weather, workload, or inner weather.
The ideal offered is often machine-like:
Predictable.
Linear.
Unchanging.
Reliable in the narrowest sense.
So when energy shifts—as all real energy does—many people assume something is wrong.
Why am I emotional today?
Why do I feel flat this week?
Why was I radiant yesterday and inward today?
Why can’t I just stay stable?
But your energy was never meant to be flatlined into sameness.
It was meant to move.
With hormones and cycles.
With sleep and nourishment.
With safety and stress.
With heartbreak and delight.
With intuition and experience.
With seasons inside and outside the body.
Anything alive changes.
Flowers open and close.
Tides rise and fall.
The moon waxes and wanes.
The nervous system expands and contracts.
Even the breath itself is rhythmic rather than fixed.
Why would you be the only living thing expected to remain identical each day?
This misunderstanding creates unnecessary suffering.
Instead of relating to fluctuation, people wage war against it.
They force high energy on low-energy days.
Demand cheerfulness in grief.
Shame tenderness as weakness.
Treat inwardness as failure.
Interpret changing needs as inconsistency.
Then they become exhausted not only from life, but from resisting life’s natural rhythms within them.
There is another way.
To meet variation with curiosity.
Try this today.
Instead of asking:
How do I feel better?
Ask:
What do I feel today?
Notice the difference.
The first question assumes the current state is a problem.
The second invites relationship.
What do I feel today?
Tender?
Powerful?
Foggy?
Creative?
Quiet?
Needing solitude?
Wanting connection?
Clear and decisive?
Soft and receptive?
Restless because something wants change?
Then let the answer be enough.
Not a diagnosis.
Not a failure.
Not an emergency.
Information.
This does not mean every mood should govern your life. It means inner reality deserves to be acknowledged before being managed.
Some days call for action.
Some for restoration.
Some for boundaries.
Some for beauty.
Some for tears.
Some for boldness.
Some for silence.
Wisdom often lies not in forcing one state permanently, but in knowing what season you are in and responding accordingly.
This is deeply feminine in the healthiest sense—not passivity, but attunement.
The capacity to sense changing conditions and move with them rather than against them.
A woman who understands her rhythms becomes powerful.
She stops expecting winter blooms in every month.
She stops comparing Tuesday’s energy to Saturday’s softness.
She stops interpreting ebb as failure.
She learns that retreat can precede expansion. Rest can precede radiance. Quiet can precede creation.
You do not need to stabilise yourself into something flat.
You are not a spreadsheet.
You are not a productivity app.
You are not a machine built for sameness.
You are alive.
And alive things move.
So when energy changes, do not ask only how to fix it.
Ask what it is saying.
You are allowed to shift.
Allowed to cycle.
Allowed to become different versions of yourself across days, seasons, chapters.
You are allowed to change.
That is not instability.
It is vitality.
