Part of the Pages of Light collection
You don’t always notice it straight away.
You think you’re just tired. Or irritated. Or a little flat in a way that doesn’t seem worth investigating. It feels small enough to ignore, easy enough to move past. So you carry on.
But it lingers.
Not loudly. Not dramatically. Just there, slightly underneath everything else. In the way your shoulders don’t quite drop. In the way your thoughts loop without landing. In the way something feels unfinished, even in a quiet moment.
At some point—maybe in between things, maybe while you’re waiting for something to load, maybe when the room goes still—you reach for your phone.
Not to scroll. Just to write.
You open a note and begin, without much thought:
Underneath that, I feel…
The first answer comes easily. It’s usually the one you already know. Tired. Annoyed. Overwhelmed. Something simple. Something acceptable.
You pause, then write it again.
Underneath that, I feel…
This time it’s slightly different. A little more specific. A little less tidy.
You go again.
There’s often a moment here where your mind tries to move on. It will tell you that you’ve done enough, that you’ve already figured it out, that there’s no need to keep going.
But if you stay, just for another line, something softer tends to appear.
Not always bigger. Just quieter.
A kind of honesty that doesn’t push to be seen, but settles in when there’s finally space for it.
You don’t need to analyse it. You don’t need to fix it. You don’t even need to fully understand it.
Just noticing is often enough.
Because the deeper feeling is rarely trying to overwhelm you.
It’s usually just been waiting.
To stay with this month’s rose more deeply, the August 2026 – The Wild Rose Workbook is waiting for you here – a quiet companion of prompts, rituals, and reflective practices to help you soften into the theme at your own pace.
